Safety

Holland is committed to providing a safe and healthy work environment for our entire staff. We believe that everyone shares the responsibility of creating a safe and healthy workplace. Holland does not put a price on safety and we do not take it lightly. We have employees that work at specialized medical sites and industrial sites on a nightly basis. We provide all necessary equipment and PPE for all of our employees who are required to have it based on their working conditions. We are committed to providing our employees with the proper tools, training and support so that they are able to work safely, while minimizing their risk of harm.

Safety training is a portion of our orientation process. Our company also conducts bi-weekly safety tool box meetings at all of our jobsites which have three or more employees.

Safety training at our smaller jobsites is handled by our area managers. Some of the safety topics that are covered consist of the following:

  • Hazard Communications
  • Where to find and how to read MSDS sheets
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Blood Borne Pathogens
  • Workplace Violence
  • Harassment
  • Proper lifting/handling of trash or other heavy items
  • Checking electrical plugs on equipment before use
  • Protocol for reporting work-related accidents
  • OSHA Compliance
  • Fire and extreme weather evacuation plans

Our goal is to improve the appearance of our clients’ facilities; while creating a healthier work place in the process. Studies have proven that employees working in environments with poor indoor air quality and high levels of VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) are more prone to sickness and allergies.

The types of equipment, chemicals and supplies used can make all the difference in reducing the amounts of VOC’s, cross-contamination, allergens, and carbon dust which can cause various symptoms and sicknesses. We train and provide our employees with the most innovative and effective products to improve the overall health of your facility while striving for long-term sustainability.

Certification & Training

We invest a significant amount of time and money into educating our management team on new and innovative ways to improve service to our clients. As members of the Building Service Contractors Association International (BSCAI) we regularly attend the educational and trade shows around the country to stay current on laws and issues affecting our industry.

The BSCAI Certification Program allows for all levels of management to test their abilities. Those who have been in the industry long enough recognize that the highest level of certification is that of CBSE (Certified Building Service Executive). Those who pass the intensive one day examination are given this designation.

Kirk VanderVlucht carries the CSBE designation. He is the only person with the designation in the NW Ohio area.
